Day 10 & 11

We’ll start off what I had planned for Day 10: Shakti Asana. Better known as Warrior Goddess Pose. It’s a super fun and empowering pose. Combining it with a lions breath (you stick your tongue out and exhale with gusto), I personally feel super energized and just on top of the world with this pose. You want your feet at 45 degree angles and take your time finding your alignment as your lower yourself into the pose. For me, I choose to do little “dips” first to stretch myself and feel what I need to adjust on my alignment. Once I’m there and deep into the pose, your arms should be engaged and out to the sides. A lot of people will get even deeper into the pose by incorporating eagles pose (basically your arms are intertwined with one another). I choose not to because it was challenging to see my face for the pose. I think this a great pose for just giving yourself some positive energy and have it run up and down your body. Modifications for this could be just how deep you want to go into the pose, how far apart your legs are. I would also suggest just sitting upward in a chair and do a few lions breaths as well.

For Day 11, our focus is on Tadasana, or Mountain Pose. I think even though it looks simple it’s more complex when you get into it. Feet should be hip width a part, a tall spine, engaged torso, and a little raise of the neck as well. It’s also about how you balance your feet. Of my yoga instructors explained it as your weight should be distributed evenly through the four parts of your foot. If you image your foot as a rectangle, you should try to get the weight evenly across all four corners. Finally, modifications for this pose can be sitting tall with engaged feet on the floor, how far apart your feet are, your back against the wall, etc.
