I’m not going to lie: one of the hardest things to do for my social media pages is having my picture taken. I prefer being behind the camera or in group photos hiding in the back. I know becoming a yoga teacher it’s about learning to love yourself and where you are: it’s not easy since I’ve struggled with self love for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I feel comfortable with my fabulous photographer (shout out to my boyfriend who takes time out of his day to help out), but it doesn’t make it any easier to hit the “send” button. It can be overwhelming seeing other yogis post the perfect handstand or some pose that truly defy the laws of gravity.
I know with time, my poses will improve and I will hopefully become more confident in myself to take risks. However, I don’t want my posts or image to feel fabricated. I want to show my followers my authentic self, and do it without apologizing. I want to stay true to my practice by not taking hours of my day for the perfect post. It’s unlikely I’ll always chose the best one(s) of what I take. Maybe I’ll be falling when I can’t hold my balance, or laughing because I just feel silly that day. Whatever I choose, I can promise you that it’s genuine and it will be perfect in it’s own way.
